Privacy policy

Up front: this site sets no cookies, measures nothing, loads nothing from third-party servers and passes nothing on. What does occur is described here. The German wording is the binding one.

1. Controller

The controller for data processing on this website is the person named in the legal notice. Contact for any privacy question:

dzss@kionova.com · Legal notice

2. No cookies, no tracking, no third-party services

This website uses no cookies, no analytics or audience measurement and no ad networks. Every font, image, style and script is served from the same server as the page. Opening it establishes no connection to third parties, not even to font or CDN providers. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making.

3. Server log files

When the page is requested, the web server processes technically necessary access data: IP address, date and time, the file requested, volume transferred, status code, referrer and browser identification. This is required to deliver the page and to detect attacks.

The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure, trouble-free operation). Logs are deleted after 14 days and are not merged with other data. The server is operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany; a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place.

4. Browser storage (localStorage)

If you confirm the beta notice in the manual, the site stores a value under the key "dzss-manual-ack" in your browser's local storage, so that the confirmation is not asked for again on your next visit. That is the only value this site stores, and it is not a cookie: it is never transmitted to the server, carries no personal reference and can be deleted at any time in your browser settings. Your language choice is not stored; it is part of the address path. The legal basis is § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG. The storage is strictly necessary for the function you asked for, so no consent is required.

5. Getting in touch

If you write to me by e-mail, I process your address and your message solely to answer it. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, and for questions about using the software also Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. Messages are deleted once they are no longer needed and no statutory retention period stands in the way.

6. Links to Steam, Discord, GermanDayZ.gg, Patreon, SumUp and LinkedIn

The site links to the Discord server of the project, through which support runs as tickets, to the Steam group of the project, to the community forum GermanDayZ.gg, to my profiles on Steam, Discord and LinkedIn, and to Patreon and SumUp. These are plain links. Nothing is loaded and no script of these providers is embedded. Only when you click such a link is a connection to that provider established, and from that moment their privacy terms apply. I have no influence on the processing that happens there.

7. Downloading the software

When a program file is offered, you download it straight from this server. That produces the same log file entry as any other request; no registration takes place.

8. The application itself

DZSS Server Studio runs entirely on your own machine. The program sends no usage data, no telemetry and no crash reports to me or to anyone else; there is no user account and no cloud. Credentials such as the Steam token stay encrypted on your machine. Connections to the internet happen only where you trigger them, for instance to Steam, to fetch server files and workshop mods. The one exception: on startup the program fetches the releases.json file from dzss.eu once so it can point out a new version. This serves only the security and stability of your servers; it produces only the usual log entry of that request and transfers no usage or device data. An update is never installed automatically.

9. Your rights

You have the right to information (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). An informal message to the address above is enough. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), usually the one in your country of residence.

10. Encryption and status

The site is served over HTTPS only, so the transfer is encrypted. This policy is dated August 2026. If the site changes, the policy will be adjusted.
